WINEMAKER DINNER
Roberto Ignacio Echeverría of Viña Echeverría, Chile
Wednesday 21st February 2024, 7PM
“From the driest desert on earth in the north to icebergs in the south; and at no point more than 110 miles wide, how does a country like Chile make such fabulous wines…
We are thrilled to welcome Roberto who will host our first winemaker dinner of the season.
The Echeverría family started exporting their first wines in 1993 and today own 65 hectares of sustainably farmed vineyards in several delimited areas in Chile’s Central Valley, making over 30 different wines from 10 varieties. We will find out fascinating stories of how the Echeverría got to where they are today.
Roberto has worked as Production Manager and Chief Winemaker at Viña Echeverría for more than 15 years and became CEO in 2009. He will guide us through a selection of their wines, from everyday drinking to the very best. We will learn more about Viña Echeverría as a company, and the dynamic Chilean wine industry in general. Head Chef Pramod Jadhav has created a special menu for the night;
Meze plate – Chickpea and garlic hummus; marinated kalamata olives; grilled Jerusalem artichokes; mint and cumin yoghurt dip; pitta bread
Fasolia stew – Braised shoulder of lamb cooked in rich tomato sauce with red kidney beans; fluffy rice and crispy noodles
