INTRODUCTION TO CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Thursday 29th September 2022, 7.15pm
“Introduction to wine” tastings are themed around grape varieties or regions. The format is informal, suitable for anyone with an interest in wine who might want to get a bit more understanding of the subject. They are tutored by John Hoskins, Master of Wine and owner of the hotel. We taste 8-10 wines from the everyday to the very best, for about an hour and a half. Then there’s an informal supper – 2 courses, a couple of glasses of wine, coffee.
Long-hailed as the king of red grape varieties but now sometimes overlooked while writers and enthusiasts go off in search of new discoveries. No-one can deny, however, the beauty of great Cabernet from Bordeaux, nor fail to admire the character and food-friendliness of more affordable examples from Australia (particularly Margaret River) or Chile, Argentina and Stellenbosch in South Africa
We will taste 10 wines including some good claret.
Nibbles with the tasting; Slow-braised rib of beef; apple tart to finish. And a couple more glasses of Cabernet of course.
This tasting and dinner is £75. To book ring the wine shop 01480 458410.
